Product information "Absinthe La Pontissalienne 500 ml"
The Absinthe brand “La Pontissalienne” had already existed before the Absinthe ban. Back then it was the famous Distillerie Vichet from Pontarlier that produced this Absinthe. As nearly every Absinthe brand disappeared after the ban in 1915, La Pontissalienne was nearly forgotten, but after 100 years Francois Guy reanimated the brand as a special edition for the Absinthiades of 2011. It won a Gold Medal both in 2011 and 2013 at the Absinthiades and in between, there was another Gold Medal awarded at the Concours General du Salon de l’Agriculture de Paris. The Guy distillery is known for taking a lot of care for tradition, so they use traditional Absinthe alembics that had been previously used by the Duval distillery in Pontarlier. The formula is relatively simple but very effective: fine Andalusian Anise Seed and powerful Wormwood from French Jura combine into a perfect aroma locals have preferred ever since. At only 56% ABV, it doesn’t sound like a lot for Absinthe, but try it – you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Distillerie Guy
Florentin's cousin, a cheesemaker from Champagnole, supported Armand Guy from Pontarlier financially to set up a distillery. Armand Guy bought a piece of land on Rue des Lavaux, built a building on it, bought a still and started his business. For Florentin's cousin, Armand Guy to finance it, the absinthe produced there had to bear his name. As managing director, Armand Guy was responsible for the success of the business. Florentin Cousin and Armand Guy separated in 1906 after Guy had repaid the last installment of the loan. Florentin Cousin then founded a distillery in Champagnole which his descendants later sold to H. Deniset Jeune from Pontarlier. After separating from his brothers, Ernest Cousin took up work as a distiller in Francbourg. He produced about 120,000 bottles of Absinthe Cousin Jeune a year.
The buildings in Rue de Lavaux, Pontarlier still exist today and absinthe is still distilled there today - it's the Guy distillery.
